Our foundation of growth, values, and learning at The KBA Schools
This is a key focus and strength that demonstrates the high reputation The KBA Schools brand has built in the community over time. An open-minded approach grounded on clearly documented school policies has provided a non-discriminative access to learning to all, regardless of their social, cultural, religious or political affiliations. Upon admission, at any level, all pupils are entitled to equal care and benefits available in the school.
For those joining the beginner class, the minimum admission age is strictly 3 years. This is done at the beginning of the year and learners are taken through an assessment programme to ascertain their readiness for school and its activities. The parent/guardian MUST present a birth certificate as this is not only the child’s identification document but it also shows their age. Pupils wishing to join middle and pre-unit classes are taken through a competitive written / formal interview upon which those who satisfy the examining team are admitted.
We uphold values of modesty among our teachers and learners at all times. Grooming that reflects Christian standards is embraced; therefore, pupils are not allowed to have dreadlocks. Boys are encouraged to maintain a clean haircut, while girls are expected to wear plain, neat cornrows with green and white rubber bands if necessary. At the KBA Schools Kindergarten, the learner grows academically and spiritually and based on the results achieved so far and feedback received, it has become a center of excellence known to many.
Class Age
Baby class: 3 years
Middle class: 4 years
Pre-unit class: 5/6 years.
Children aged 3 to 5 years are taught and nurtured to prepare them for the demands of lower primary school upon completing the pre-school curriculum. The team has embraced creativity and innovation in order to make learning fun and enjoyable thereby ensuring optimum reception by the learners in any given session.
Information is widely shared and continual consultations take place among the team players of this section. Teachers sharpen their skills through research on the new methodologies of teaching, classroom management and interaction as well as continual benchmarking with other kindergartens that have excelled in diverse ways within our environment.
An extensive reading culture is nurtured among preschoolers through storybooks available in our well-stocked library, enhancing their ability to recognize and articulate beginning, middle, and final sounds. In addition, the alphabet is fully taught both in its order and phonetically as well as compound words which are taught in a fun filled environment.
When the need arises for duplicating worksheets and pictures, we have efficient copy machines in place. Effective assessment tools are also implemented to monitor and evaluate learners’ progress. Individual academic and non-academic assessment progress record is one of the tools that help us view a child as an individual.
Learning is made practical through educational tours and trips with children getting opportunities to visit fascinating sites and destinations which motivate them to relate learning with real life.
Daily and weekly inspiring devotions nourish the learners spiritually. Under the watchful eye of their caregivers, learners get to enjoy exciting events such as:
To ensure we teach and maintain excellent hygiene, we have clean and well maintained facilities and plenty of clean piped water to learn hand washing techniques.
