The governance of the KBA Group of Schools is under the direction of the Board of management. This Board is appointed by the school’s sponsor the Kahawa West Baptist Church through its council who are guided by prescribed guiding policy.
The board consists of 7 independent members, the Church council chairman, one of the Church pastors, the Church treasurer and assistant treasurer, the Head and deputy head teachers of each of the campuses, the heads of finance of each campus and 3 parents co-opted from among the parents in the school.
The Board chair and vice chair are appointed by the Church council. The Head teacher of KBA Group of Schools Kahawa west heads the board secretariat. The Council in its wisdom ensures that board members are drawn from diverse professional training and experiences placing a high emphasis on, a reasonable number of them being educationists or having experience in the management of educational institutions.
The Board works through the following board committees that are constituted on a three year basis upon appointment or renewal of a new board: Executive, Academics, Human Resource, Finance & Audit, School Infrastructure (S.I.C), Formation & Empowerment and Procurement & Transport.
The Board has developed and regularly updates a School management policy manual that guides management on day to day key result areas. This manual is given to every employee to enable them understand board expectations on them as they execute their mandate.
Key issues such as human resource management, discipline for pupils and employees, academics programs, among others are well articulated in the policy manual.
Through regular meetings of board committees and full board, the management is appropriately guided, supervised and motivated to pursue excellence in the day to day management of school programs. This has been a key strength in the growth and development of the KBA group of schools.
